DESCALING THE SINK
We've all been there, after a long day you really don't feel like doing the dishes anymore. That's why you leave your dishes in the sink overnight. But over time, your sink will look very dirty and dull. Time to give it a good and thorough cleaning. But... how do you actually do that? Don't worry, we'll explain it to you.
HOME, GARDEN AND KITCHEN REMEDIES
Of course you can run to the nearest supermarket to buy the most expensive cleaning and descaling products. But you can also clean your sink with the following items that you probably already have in your cupboard. Ready for? Let's go!
CLEANING VINEGAR
It shouldn't really be a surprise that we mention this one. Cleaning vinegar is a panacea for many household problems. To properly clean your sink, it is important to first ensure that you rinse away any food remains. Then you boil some cleaning vinegar in a pan. Then take a microfiber cloth and some dishwashing liquid and soap up your entire sink. Let this mixture soak in for a few hours. Then rinse the sink with plain water and voilà, as good as new!
BAKING SODA
If you are a big baking enthusiast? Then you certainly have baking soda at home. However, this time you will not use it in your cake recipe. For those who don't watch Heel Holland Bakt on Sundays: baking soda is a white, crystal-forming powder that allows you to make the tastiest bakes, but also keeps your sink wonderfully clean.
To start, sprinkle two tablespoons of baking soda in your sink and rub it in well with a cloth. Then take the cleaning vinegar mentioned above and pour it over the surface. You will see it start to foam. Let this sit for about 10 minutes and then rinse your sink.
LIQUID GREEN SOAP
Okay, we admit it. This last option is not ideal. You have to repeat this trick every three to four weeks. The idea is that you rub your sink monthly with liquid green soap. Do this until it shines again.
STILL A DULL WASH BOX?
Have you tried all the tips above and are left with a dull sink?? Then you probably suffer from stubborn limescale and you are further away from home. Limescale is not that easy to remove. Fortunately, we still have some tricks up our sleeves.
CLEANING VINEGAR, AGAIN
If your sink is not cleaned properly by the cleaning vinegar and the microfiber cloth, you can try making a mixture with water. Make sure your mixture is 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 water. First fill your sink 2/3 with boiling hot water and fill the rest with cleaning vinegar. Let this soak overnight. The next day, drain the mixture and wipe it over with a sturdy cloth. You will see that you now have a shiny sink again.
